You may have heard the news this week about Nick Clegg’s plans to create a better-rewarded workforce in the UK by encouraging companies to follow the lead of high street retailer John Lewis.
This idea is a fairly simple one. Since John Lewis is owned by its employees and they all take a share in its profits, the Lib Dem leader thinks that similar co-ownership schemes should be implemented by other UK businesses. He believes that, not only will this create better-rewarded workforces, but will also increase productivity and morale among employees and help to spearhead the country’s future economic growth.
We’re unashamed conference junkies here.
Rarely a week goes by when some of the team aren’t being inspired by our industry’s finest, meeting customers or just propping up the bar at an event or conference.
A highlight for the design/UX team is Build.
Last week Ed wrote about what our rapid growth has meant for the company across a number of fronts. One of these is our workplace.
During the first two years of FreeAgent we built the app in the time-honoured startup tradition of late night bedroom and home office hacking.
The last year has seen a seismic change in our company, on pretty much every front.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: one of the delights in producing online software is the complimentary products that get developed to work in alongside your own app to extend it’s reach and functionality.

We’ve just signed up yet another FreeAgent Evangelist (hi Jaffa!) and we’re seeing a real uptick in people applying to us to join our ranks.
We are seeing some truly significant numbers of people being introduced to FreeAgent by this method, February being a particularly record-breaking month with new personal bests in introductions, conversion rates and money paid out by us! Fantastic!

If you’re an HSBC personal account holder (and I am) you’ve maybe been frustrated at the limited options when it comes to downloading older statement data. Basically you can’t. Which can be a problem if you want to upload those old transactions into FreeAgent.

One of my favourite things about business in general – and in particular a business like FreeAgent which is always looking to push some boundaries wherever possible – is the fact that we get to meet and work with some really clever people, who have great ideas and solutions that complement and extend what we do.

The early days of running a company are a stressful but rewarding time.
Yesterday we posted a picture on Twitter of the new wall mounted TV we’ve just installed in the dev room.
Today saw the launch of mobileAgent, an iPhone client that allows you to add timeslips and mileage to your FreeAgent account when you’re on the go.
It’s probably not our core market, but we were pleased to hear that e2cargo, an online logistics app for the haulage and freight industry, now integrates with FreeAgent.
We pushed another one of our “sneak releases” live last week. It didn’t contain any new features in the app but we have now enabled Single Sign-on and Universal Navigation to FreeAgent from your Google Apps account.
You may not have noticed, but we pushed a software update last week. It’s part of a new release strategy where we’ll be updating FreeAgent more frequently, with smaller releases.
Hot on the heels of DoubleAgent comes a new expenses iPhone app for FreeAgent – Out of Pocket. While DoubleAgent was purely focused on tracking Mileage, Out of Pocket lets you add any sort of expense directly to your FreeAgent account.
