Support Engineer
We're looking for an experienced engineer to join our dedicated Engineering Support team. Your focus will be investigating and responding to second-line, customer-reported technical problems, reporting, managing and overseeing the resolution of these issues.
You'll be dealing directly with our customers, as well as working closely with our Engineering and dedicated Customer Service teams to ensure that the FreeAgent experience continues to exceed our customers' expectations.
Primary responsibilities:
- Be instrumental in evolving our technical support process
- Responding to and solving second-line customer-reported application problems
- Devising solutions and workarounds for our first-line support team
- Using tools to monitor FreeAgent for unexpected behaviour, diagnosing the cause, and helping to correct any underlying issues in the code
- Working alongside our Product Director to prioritise issue resolution
The skills and qualities we're looking for in this role are:
- Experience developing customer-facing web applications, ideally but not necessarily using Ruby and Rails
- Self-motivated with a level-head
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills
- Ability to triage and prioritise a shifting workload
- A friendly, understanding and positive attitude
- Ability to break down complex problems so that they can be understood by both fellow engineers and customers
- Be great at recognising and diagnosing likely causes of software problems
- Quick-learning and adaptable: you'll be working across every part of FreeAgent
We're looking for people to work full-time with the team in our brand-new Edinburgh office, but we would consider a remote working arrangement for exceptional candidates. We have a relocation package available and Edinburgh is a fantastic place to live!
