FreeAgent is an online money management and accounting tool intended for small businesses of up to 10 employees. This will include most kinds of freelancers, contractors and consultants. Whether you are just getting started, or are already in business as a sole trader or limited company, VAT registered or not, FreeAgent can save you time.
All accounts start with a free 30-day trial. We have 2 basic types of price plans: our Universal Account which can be used by anyone, but is general used by businesses outside the UK, and our UK business plans for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies
You can find full details of the cost structure on our pricing page. The short answer is £15 per month for UK Sole Traders, £20 per month for UK Partnerships/LLPs and £25 per month for UK Limited Companies while the Universal Account costs US $20 per month.
The main difference between our UK business accounts and the international Universal Account, is the calculation of certain UK tax liabilities, which has been built specifically for UK companies.
Universal accounts can still take advantage of all of the other money management features of FreeAgent.
FreeAgent uses electronic statement data to help you track money in and out of your business. It accepts electronic statements in one of three formats: OFX (sometimes called MS Money/Quickbooks), QIF and many CSV formats.
If your data is in a format that isn't currently supported you can contact us at support@freeagent.com and we'll try and add support for your format ASAP.
All information which passes between our servers and your computer is encrypted using a technology called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the same technology that banks use to protect data.
Our servers are looked after by Rackspace, the UK's most fanatical hosting company. They have very tightly-controlled physical security and highly resilient networking and power facilities. We don't think there's a safer place in the UK for us to keep our servers.
We look after your business data ourselves. We back up all our data every 15 minutes, and it is then encrypted and transferred off-site. It is therefore exceptionally unlikely that your data will be lost.
Of course, you own your data. You can export all of your FreeAgent data at any time in Excel Spreadsheet (XLS) format, and analyse it or back it up yourself, as you see fit.
We take your privacy very seriously.
Our Privacy Policy has the full details, but in a nutshell FreeAgent is built around the principle that only you (or people you give login access to) can access your data. We undertake never to reveal any data to anyone, unless required to do so by law.
Yes, we do.
Everyone who signs up to FreeAgent gets a unique referral code. If you know of other companies who you think will benefit from FreeAgent, pass your referrer code onto them. If they sign up using your code and subscribe to our monthly plan, you'll both receive a 10% discount.
You'll receive a further 10% discount for each subsequent referral you make, so if you make ten successful referrals you'll be using FreeAgent for free!
Once you've made 10 referrals you'll have the opportunity to qualify for Evangelist status where you can start to earn money from referring new people to FreeAgent.
