Here's the scenario.
You're trying to add costs to a particular project in FreeAgent.
But when you click the drop-down menu to choose the project, you can't see that project on the list.
If your project's base currency is a foreign currency, you won't be able to add costs to it, because FreeAgent doesn't support multi-currency expenses.
That means that if you're a UK user, unless your project is in £ sterling, you won't be able to add costs to it.
If your FreeAgent account is Universal, then you get to choose your base currency. If you've chosen, for example, Euros, then you won't be able to add costs to a project that's in dollars.
You'll need to enter the expenses in your base currency (translating them using the exchange rate as at the day you incurred the cost), and put them as not linked to a project.

Then, when you create the invoice for the project, add an invoice item to put the expenses on, in the foreign currency.

This means that you'll be able to charge your customer for your expenses.
But it also means that the project profitability graphic will show the profit for that project as too high, because the expenses aren't showing as a cost to that project. Be aware of this when you're budgeting for your project.
