Deleting bank transactions
If you ever need to delete a bank transaction from FreeAgent, here are the steps to follow.
How to delete a single bank transaction
Deleting transactions from a bank feed or manual statement upload
To delete a transaction that has either been imported into FreeAgent via a bank feed or added via a manual statement upload, go to the ‘Banking’ tab and select the relevant bank account from the list of accounts.
Click on the name of the transaction that you want to delete and then select ‘More Options’.
If there is an explanation associated with the transaction, select ‘Remove this explanation’. Be aware that once an explanation has been removed, it cannot be recovered. This includes any attachments that you added to the explanation, including receipts.
When the explanation has been removed, you will be returned to the Banking overview screen. Once again, click on the name of the transaction that you’d like to delete, and select ‘More options’. Now select ‘Delete this transaction’ to complete the process. Please bear in mind that deleted transactions cannot be recovered.
Deleting manually added transactions
To delete a bank transaction that you have added to FreeAgent manually, go to the ‘Banking’ tab and select the relevant bank account from the list of accounts.
Click on the name of the transaction that you want to delete and select ‘More options’. Now choose ‘Delete this entry’ to complete the process. Again, please note that deleted transactions cannot be recovered later.
How to delete multiple bank transactions
You can delete multiple ‘money in’ transactions or multiple ‘money out’ transactions at the same time - but you can’t delete a combination of the two.
To delete multiple transactions, begin by navigating to the ‘Banking’ tab and select the relevant bank account from the list of accounts.
If any of the transactions you want to delete were either imported into FreeAgent via a bank feed or added via a manual statement upload, remove all the explanations associated with those transactions first. You won’t need to do this for any manually added bank transactions.
Next, check the boxes of all the transactions you’d like to delete and then select ‘Delete X Transactions’ in the ‘Delete multiple transactions’ panel on the right-hand side of the screen.
A pop-up will then appear, asking if you’re sure. Select ‘Delete Transactions’ to proceed. Bear in mind that once a transaction has been deleted, it cannot be recovered.
