Benefits of integrating Shopify

The Shopify integration can save you hours of admin by automatically importing the data about your Shopify sales, refunds and associated fees each day into FreeAgent.

Your sales income and Shopify fees will then be automatically explained to the accounting categories you choose when setting up the integration, to make the process fully automated and remove the need to manually reconcile the data.

How Shopify works with FreeAgent

When you connect  your Shopify account to FreeAgent, a dummy Shopify bank account will automatically be created in the Banking area in FreeAgent.

Each day, an invoice will be automatically created in FreeAgent if there have been sales in your Shopify store. Every time you receive a payment for an order in your Shopify store, a transaction will be created in your Shopify bank account in FreeAgent and automatically explained as a payment for the invoice.

If you receive a sales refund, a credit note will be automatically created in FreeAgent with the total refunded sales value. If you refund a payment for a cancelled order in your Shopify store, this transaction will also be created in your Shopify bank account in FreeAgent and automatically explained as a refund for the credit note.

Any fees incurred over the previous 24-hour period will be recorded in your Shopify bank account in FreeAgent and will be automatically explained to the category you choose when setting up the integration.

How do I get started with Shopify?

You can connect your Shopify account to FreeAgent by following these steps:

1. Navigate to the Shopify App Store and search for FreeAgent using the search bar.
2. Select 'Add app' and log into your Shopify account.
3. Review the terms and conditions provided and then select ‘Install app’ in the bottom-right corner.
4. Enter your FreeAgent login details and select ‘Approve app!’.
5. Choose the FreeAgent account that you want the Shopify app to integrate with and then select ‘Approve’.
6. Configure the initial settings for the integration on Shopify’s website.
